From Sarajevo to Global Markets: A Story of Trust, Responsibility, and Growth

Author: Mirza Pirić, Purple Key Agency CEO

I’m sitting in our office in Sarajevo. Through the window, I can see Trebević Mountain. On my computer screen, there’s a video call with colleagues and partners from London, Frankfurt, and Dubai. We’re planning campaigns for markets we had never imagined working in years ago. And as I watch the conversation unfold, I find myself asking:

How did we get here?

It certainly wasn’t because of some grand master plan written down sixteen years ago. We never sat around a table saying, “One day, we’re going to conquer the world”. We started with a much simpler goal: to do our work responsibly, deliver quality without compromise, and treat every project with the same level of dedication. Whether it was for a small local business or a multinational corporation.

The First Question Every Client Asks – And the One We Often Forget

When people first hear about Purple Key, they usually assume we’re just another marketing agency from Sarajevo. And that assumption makes perfect sense. Our office is in Sarajevo. Our team works from Bosnia and Herzegovina every day. What most people don’t know is that today, more than 70% of our business comes from outside Bosnia and the wider region from across Europe and beyond.

And we got there in a way that still surprises us. Not through bold promises. Not through aggressive sales tactics. Not through expensive trade shows or flashy presentations. We got there by building trust, year after year.

Client by client. Project by project. Recommendation by recommendation.

The Lesson We Will Never Forget: 700 Locations in 7 Days

Want to hear the story that defined Purple Key? One day, we received a call from Coca-Cola. We were asked to conduct a market visit project in Dubrovnik and completely rebrand 700 HORECA locations. The deadline? Seven days.

When we heard the numbers, everyone had the same thought: “This is impossible.” Seven hundred locations. Different venues. Different owners. Different logistical challenges. All within a single week. But we looked at each other and said:

If we say we can do it, then we have to deliver.

And so we began. We worked around the clock. The entire team was in the field. Overtime hours quickly reached the hundreds. It was one of the most demanding projects we have ever undertaken. But do you know what happened? We did it.

All 700 locations. Completed within seven days. Rebranded, delivered, and ready exactly as promised. When it was over, we didn’t celebrate. We went home and slept for twelve hours. But that project taught us something no seminar or business book ever could:

A deadline is not an estimate. A deadline is a promise.

And once you make that promise, you honour it regardless of how challenging it becomes or what it costs. It seemed impossible. It seemed unrealistic. Yet we delivered. And that single project opened the door to many other international opportunities.

Not because we were the cheapest. Not because we had the best presentation. But because we proved, under the most demanding circumstances, that we could be relied upon.

What Have We Learned Working Across More Than 15 Industries?

Over the past sixteen years, we have had the privilege of working with companies across a wide range of sectors — healthcare and pharmaceuticals, finance, automotive, retail, tourism, aviation, and the public sector, to name just a few.

And every time, we discovered the same truth: Marketing is never just marketing. Behind every campaign is a strategy. Behind every event is an experience. Behind every visual is a brand. And behind every successful project is a team that understands the bigger picture.

A team willing to go the extra mile when it matters most — even when that means working 100-hour weeks.

Why We Built Purple Key as a Full-Service Agency

We never wanted to be an agency that did just one thing. We never wanted to be “just design” or “just production.”

We wanted our clients — whether they are in Sarajevo, Vienna, Zurich, or London — to be able to call one number at 8 a.m., say: “I need this done.” And know that everything would be taken care of.

No managing multiple suppliers. No coordinating different teams. No chasing invoices. No wondering who is responsible for what.

Today, under one roof, we bring together specialists in strategy, creative development, design, digital communications, production, post-production, event management, and digital solutions development.

For our clients, that means less coordination. Less risk. More certainty. And in a world that moves faster every day, certainty has become one of the most valuable things we can offer.

What Do Clients Really Want Today? (Hint: It’s Not Creativity)

Working with clients across industries has taught us something important. Today, clients are not simply looking for creativity. They are not looking for a campaign. They are not looking for an event. They are looking for a partner.

A partner who understands their business. Their goals. Their pressures. Their deadlines. Their responsibilities.

A partner who knows that brand guidelines are not suggestions, but obligations. A partner who understands the importance of consistency across every market.

A partner who treats deadlines as commitments, not estimates. A partner who says “yes” only when they truly can deliver — and then follows through.

A partner who proved, when it mattered most, that they stand behind their word.

Sarajevo as a Metaphor — And Our Greatest Advantage

Perhaps that is our greatest strength. In Sarajevo, we learned that business is built face-to-face. Over coffee. Through conversation. Through a sense of responsibility toward the person sitting across from you.

We carried that same mindset to clients in Sweden, Austria, Germany, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom. And surprisingly, they often appreciate it even more than people do at home.

Because in a global market that can sometimes feel cold, fast, and anonymous, a genuinely personal and responsible approach has become rare. We brought that approach with us from Sarajevo. And we proved its value through our work.

The Kind of Trust You Cannot Buy

Perhaps that is why most of our business today comes from markets far beyond the one where we started.

Not because we set out to become an international agency. But because our clients led us there.

Project by project. Recommendation by recommendation. And for that, we are genuinely grateful.

Because for us, the greatest recognition has never been a famous logo on a presentation slide.

The greatest recognition is when a client calls us again. When they recommend us. When they trust us with their next project. And as I finish writing this…

I look once more toward Trebević and think about that video call connecting three markets at the same time. And I wonder: Which market have we not reached yet, and where might our story of responsibility and trust find its next home?

If you have an idea or want to talk about how your brand can benefit from a partner who takes it seriously, we would love to hear from you.

In person. Online. Or over a coffee.

Because in the end, it all comes down to one question: Can you trust the partner you have entrusted with your brand?

At Purple Key, we work every day to ensure that the answer is: Yes.

From Sarajevo. For Bosnia and Herzegovina. For Europe. And for the markets still to come.
